* United are set for a £1m bonus if Real Madrid win the Spanish league on Sunday. This is due to conditions in the sales of Ruud and Beckham.

* Charles Sale in the Mail predicts that Ferguson will be made a Lord by Gordon Brown. Apparently Brown gave a faultless display of football knowledge going back 50 years or so and made little secret that Ferguson is his favourite football figure.

* Paolo Sousa, former Portugal star:

"Nani's very explosive and very strong. He's fast and is going to be a great signing for United.

"I think that in the next five or 10 years, he and Cristiano Ronaldo can become the best players in the world.

"Cristiano can play anywhere and is very strong on both feet whereas Nani is basically a left-sided player.

"Nani is still young but has progressed very quickly. He will face strong competition at Manchester which should help him progress.

"He has Sir Alex Ferguson who is a man I love because of the way he brings players on.

"Nani has incredible talent and Sir Alex loves to work with such talented players and is brilliant at creating big players."

* Sky Sports link United Independiente goalkeeper Oscar Ustari.

Independiente president Julio Comparada says he has not had any contact with United regarding Ustari, but admitted they could consider any offer for the player.

"I have heard in the radio what has been said about that Manchester United are interested in our goalkeeper but I haven't received any offer yet," Comparada told the Argentine press.

"Maybe someone has got in touch with the player. We aren't doing anything for selling him because we aren't currently in a financial hurry.

"Anyway, if there is a proposal that is very interesting for the player and the club then we will analyse it."
