Yahoo news reports:

‘Manchester United have donated kit to a youth soccer club in the Bosnian town of Srebrenica, site of a 1995 massacre of 8,000 Muslim males and Europe's worst atrocity since World War Two.

‘The Guber soccer club was founded in 1924 but closed during the 1992-95 Bosnian war. Its junior team has since been re-established by refugees returning to Srebrenica. Its coaches hope the teenagers will one day field a senior team in the local league.

‘"The kids are running in boots, they have nothing, all is based on enthusiasm only," said humanitarian worker Mirza Jasarevic, who asked United for the strips. Several thousand of Srebrenica's original residents have returned in recent years but most are unemployed and rely on aid for survival.’
