David de Gea and Bruno Fernandes have insisted that criticism should not be solely put at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's door after Manchester United were beaten 4-1 by Watford on Saturday.
The Red Devils were second best for much of the game at Vicarage Road, with club captain Harry Maguire receiving a red card and United conceding two late goals.
Speculation surrounding Solskjaer's future has been in overdrive ever since Liverpool won 5-0 at Old Trafford last month. An appalling 2-0 defeat at home to Man City also looked like it could have spelt the end of Solskjaer's reign.
But De Gea insists that the players need to show more on the pitch and that the manager isn't the only one to blame.
"There's not much to say. It was embarrassing, to be honest, to see Manchester United play like we did today. I think it's not acceptable," De Gea told Sky Sports post-game.
"It's easy to say the manager, the staff, but sometimes it's the players [fault]. We are professional players, we play for Manchester United, we need to show more - much more than we are doing.
"Like I said, an embarrassing first half. We could have conceded four goals in 45 minutes. It was hard to watch the team playing like they did today. Nightmare after nightmare again for a long time. That's not acceptable."
De Gea later told BBC Radio 5Live: “We don’t know what to do with the ball. We don’t know how to defend properly.”

Fernandes - whose wayward pass led to Watford winning an early penalty - was also critical of himself and his teammates.
"It's everyones fault. It's not the coach, it's not one or two players, it's everyone. Everyone has to take responsibility because everyone has to do better. It's not enough for one of us to say 'I'm doing well'," he told beIN Sports.
