Bruno Fernandes insists Man Utd cannot get carried away after back-to-back wins

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes insists his side cannot afford to get carried away after victory over Southampton made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League.

The Portuguese fired home in the second half for Erik ten Hag's team to secure a 1-0 win.

The triumph follows on from United's 2-1 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford on Monday evening, marking the first time that the Red Devils have won back-to-back league games since February.

However, Fernandes admits his side must stay grounded and return to the standards they set a couple of seasons ago with their away form.

"We knew playing against Southampton is not easy. We have experienced this already over the last few years," said the midfielder. "We knew sometimes we had to suffer. This is the Premier League, every game is tough. So well done to us, it’s a massive three points and we carry on.

"It’s important. One win doesn’t make the league, two games doesn’t make the league. We have to carry on in this spirit for the rest of the season. This club demands this. We said before the game, we set the standard, so we have to carry on with this standard.

"Two seasons ago we did 21, 22 games without losing away from home. It doesn’t matter if we’re at home or away, we want to win every game. This is what this club demands.”

The result moves United into the top half of the table ahead of a visit to Leicester in midweek.
