There is no rest for the wicked as they say, and that certainly seems to apply to Bruno Fernandes.
The Manchester United talisman is currently on holiday after running out for Portugal at Euro 2020, but back in his homeland, Fernandes isn't kicking back with his feet up.
Instead, he's out on the training pitch at boyhood club Boavista to sharpen his fitness for the new season.Fernandes spent eight years at Boavista earlier in his career, joining as a ten-year-old before leaving to join Novara in 2012. And while he never played for the senior team in Portugal's Primeira Liga, the club had a formative influence on the player he is today.
It seems they've been keeping close tabs on his development, as they published footage on their social media of the United star at their training ground going through a series of dribbling, passing and shooting drills.
Citing themselves as Fernandes' 'first love', the Portuguese club were quick to reassure United fans that he is in good hands.
"@ManUtd don't worry, he will arrive even better," they wrote on Twitter and Instagram.
Fernandes is still on a break after the Euros, and isn't expected to return to Carrington for pre-season training until Monday 26 July. It means he won't feature in the friendly with Derby on Sunday, or the trip to QPR on Saturday 24 July.
He may have a part to play in their penultimate friendly with Brentford on Wednesday 28, which comes just ten days before they kick their Premier League season off against Everton at Old Trafford.
He endured a difficult Euros, playing less than half of Portugal's minutes as they disappointingly bowed out at the round of 16. But his form for United last season, scoring or assisting 45 times in 58 appearances, remains ominous for the rest of the Premier League.Source : 90min
