Bruno Lage insists Ruben Neves is worth £100m

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Bruno Lage has stressed that he believes midfielder Ruben Neves should only be sold for north of £100m.

The 25-year-old is ready to move on from Molineux to test himself at the highest level, and 90min understands that Manchester United are one of a handful of clubs open to signing him in the summer if the price is right.

United, however, are putting their focus on West Ham's Declan Rice for the minute but their interest in Neves remains strong.

The Portuguese will enter the final two years of his contract this summer, which could be Wolves' final chance to sell him for somewhere close to his true value. According to Lage, that should be a cool £100m.

“I don't know if it's Man Utd or other teams, what I know is we have a special player here with us," Lage told the press.

“What he is doing this season is very good. I think also the way we play, he can show a better Ruben, and also the way he plays puts our team on a different level.

“When you have that player, the best thing to do is improve his salary and years of contract.

“But who knows, when you have a top player like him in that specific position, that can defend and attack, and is a top professional and a great man, the big teams are there with £100 million to buy these kinds of players.”

Neves has made 31 appearances for Wolves in all competitions this season but faces a battle to add to that after going down with a knee injury last month.

Wolves remain hopeful that they will see Neves again before the end of the campaign.
