Robson, who made 90 appearances for his country, 65 as captain, pulls on an England Legends jersey for the second time. Robson was at the helm when England faced The Germany Legends at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane Stadium on Thursday May 15th.

On his appointment, Robson commented: "It's great to pull on an England Legends shirt again and line up alongside so many talented players. Against Germany, it was great to feel the competitive edge that comes along with representing your country. As far as the Ireland game is concerned, I know there's talk of Niall Quinn playing for Ireland. If that's the case, I might have to get on Des Walker's shoulders to deal with him!"

Robson joins former Manchester United team-mate Lee Sharpe alongside Arsenal's Paul Merson, Nigel Winterburn and Ray Parlour.

The current confirmed Republic of Ireland squad contains Manchester United full back Dennis Irwin, Arsenal and Crystal Palace midfielder Eddie McGoldrick, Charlton midfielder Mark Kinsella, Middlesbrough defender Alan Kernaghan and West Ham, Newcastle and Sunderland striker David Kelly.

The Legends: England v Republic of Ireland is the third game in The 2008 Legends Series. The England Legends beat their Scottish counterparts 2-0 at St. Mary's Stadium Southampton on Thursday May 15th before losing 5-1 to Germany at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane.
