Gary Neville is relishing a battle with David Beckham if the two face each other in the Champions League.

Speaking to the MEN Nev said "I'm just glad the transfer of David is out of the way because it was going on too long at the end. It will be different with David not being here for pre-season training but that was the case when other good mates such as Chris Casper, Ben Thornley and Keith Gillespie moved on. They were mates too.

"It's not the end of the world that David isn't at Manchester United any more. Manchester United is the greatest cause."

And if United meet Real next year

"Joking aside, we are both professionals and if we do come up against each other so be it. That would be just one of those things and we would just both do our best."
