IMUSA chair Mark Longden, "Some have already given up their tickets for the new season as they don't want to pay a penny to Glazer. Some others felt they could not give up their ticket, and that is their right - but this boycott is the chance for them to show Glazer they do not want him or his debts.

"It's simple - don't buy a ticket for this match. This is our chance to demonstrate to Glazer that supporters do have a voice and are prepared to use it.

"To pay off his debts, he will keep targetting us if he thinks we are weak and willing. We are neither. We react with horror at his plans for ticket prices, as more and more decent, loyal, United fans will be priced out of going to the club that they love and support. We will not allow that to happen."
