A MANCHESTER United fan died under the wheels of his own car when it was driven over him by car-jackers, a jury at Manchester Crown Court heard.
Surveyor Glyn Ellis, 46, was left trapped under the car and the vehicle had to be lifted off him by fire officers.

After the tragedy at Salford Quays near United's Old Trafford ground, the car-jackers fled the scene but were later caught, said Andrew Edis, QC, prosecuting.

Before the court was 19-year-old Paul Branchflower, of no settled address, who denied murder but admitted charges of manslaughter and aggravated vehicle taking.

Two other defendants, Daniel Hulmes, 20, of College Road, Whalley Range, and a 17-year-old youth, deny taking the car which was then involved in a fatal accident.

Mr Edis told the jury they had to decide if the driver intended to cause really serious harm or to kill. "The question is, what was in the mind of the driver," he said.
