CARLOS WHO?

`Maybe Carlos is something of an unknown quantity to a lot of people, but he
is not to me or many others whose business it is to know what is happening in
world football.'

`I have known about Carlos for a long time and I have been impressed by
what he has achieved in both South Africa and Portugal, but I would never
make a decision like this without going into it fully.

`I have worked well with the people who have filled this role before him and it
was important I brought someone in to continue that tradition.

`I am confident that Carlos will do equally as well as the others did and I'm
looking forward to him joining us in the next few weeks. Everybody I spoke to
had nothing but praise for him. He is a top-class coach with excellent
technical ability and a tremendous knowledge of the game in Europe and
further a field. He is also innovative and will bring a lot of fresh ideas.

Also RI notes that he is credited with discovering and nurturing Portugal's
"Golden Generation" of star players such as Joao Pinto, Luis Figo, and Rui
Costa i.e. are we now best placed to sign all these??
