Kinnear has turned to Chadders after failing in an approach for former United winger Ben Thornley.
"We've had a pop at the Manchester United lad Luke Chadwick," Kinnear told the club's official website.
"I threw my hat in the ring and Alex is umming and arring. He hasn't said no and he hasn't said yes. If you don't ask you never know. At the moment we haven't got a yes or a no."
