CHOCCY PROUD OF THE KIDS

Choccy thought that the youth team played well last night:

“I am very pleased with the performance. We told the players
before the game that we wanted them players to enjoy
themselves and perform the way we knew they could. I wasn't
worried at half-time, I just wanted more of the same. It's
good to be in the final and we are looking forward to the
challenge."

Kieron Richardson and Mads Timm both played very well, but
McClair would not single anyone out for particular praise:

“I don't think it's right to pick individuals out. Sometimes
one person can be a star man, the next week it is someone
else. We are a team and that includes the coaching staff and
all the players who weren't involved tonight.

“Our aim is to develop the players and this competition has
given us an opportunity to prepare to win and play at Old
Trafford, which we don't do at Under-19 and Under-17 level.
It will help them along the road to becoming professional
footballers. But, we don't just want them to get in the
first-team squad, we want them to stay there.”
