CONJECTURE AND TRANSFER RUMOURS?

TRANSFER KITTY

Peter Kenyon telling Joe Melling, of The Mail on Sunday, that he's done spending for this season - transfer window or not. Kenyon still has to find £13million to clear the debt with Leeds for Ferdinand. And Lazio still owe United £12million of the £16.5million they agreed to pay for Jaap Stam.

"We haven't planned it (spending in January) because we like to put a squad
together at the end of a season. We're not conceding our great run is at an end. Lots of people claim our domination is over. We have to prove them wrong. We can quell these noises by winning trophies."

Hmmm.

PAPE DIOP: UNITED WANT ME, PAPE DIOP: UNITED WANT ME

I’ve made up my mind, I’ll come if they want me

Senegalese World Cup star, Pape Bouba Diop tells World Soccer magazine: “Manchester United have been watching me regularly. They asked me to show them what I can do.

`I said `no problem' and what happens next is down to my agents. All my efforts are put into playing as well as I can.

`It has been my dream to play in the English league ever since I was a kid. I've had a couple of offers but nothing came of them. Still, I'm only 23, I can wait.'

DARIUS VASSELL

The Mirror report that our ‘bid’ to sign him is now on hold because of the delay of the Stam money.

AN OLD FRIEND

From our fave, The M.E.N.

If all else fails, Fergie could be tempted back for the short-term solution
of Paolo di Canio, who is increasingly disgruntled with West Ham's refusal
to discuss a renewal of a contract which runs out in the summer.

This just two weeks after SAF said he was too old

EIDUR LIKE TO STAY

Gudjohnsen ‘to stay’ with The Rent Boys

From The Independent:

Eidur Gudjohnsen looks set to stay with Chelsea until the end of the season, scuppering Sir Alex Ferguson's chances of securing a £10m move for the Icelander to Old Trafford in the new year. United's manager has long been an admirer of the former Bolton striker and will have been alerted by the news that his contract talks have been put on hold. But any thoughts that a January raid for the 24-year-old pay dividends appear to have been silenced by the player's agent, who said that further talks with Chelsea are planned for the end of the season.

DAVID BELLION

From The People:

Cash strapped Manchester United are turning to a 19-year-old Premiership rookie as the answer to their striker crisis.

United fans, who have been used to big-money, world-class captures, will be shocked to learn that their No 1 target for the January transfer window is Sunderland reserve David Bellion.

Bellion (who’s French) has everything the Old Trafford chief is looking for in a striker.
