The youngster is one of the hottest properties in Europe at the moment and he featured in the game against United last night, but his side, Ajax, went down 2-0.
Ferguson praised the player highly in an interview after the game and did not dismiss the rumours about United looking at the player as rubbish.
"He's a good player - a typical Ajax player who is good on the ball - but we already knew that," Ferguson told TV3+
. "We have many young players at the club, but we are always looking for talent. It's impossible to predict."
Eriksen has no plans to move from the Ajax ArenA for some time yet but he was flattered to hear that Fergie had been singing his praises.
"It is great to hear and an honour to hear him saying positive things about me, especially as it's not just come from any old manager,"Eriksen said.
"It's something I have to get used to. I would say that he is one of the game's greatest managers."
