David de Gea discusses Ralf Rangnick's 'intense' training sessions

David de Gea has revealed that he is enjoying the intensity of Ralf Rangnick's training sessions at Manchester United.

The Red Devils are set to face Newcastle United on Boxing Day knowing that a win would put them hot on the heels of Arsenal in fourth place. Rangnick's side are currently five points adrift of the Gunners, but have two games in hand due to COVID postponements.

Since taking the reins last month, Rangnick has only taken charge of two Premier League games because of these postponements - having seen the clashes with Brentford and Brighton called off at the last minute.

Rangnick is two for two in those games, however, beating both Crystal Palace and Norwich City 1-0.

Speaking to Man Utd's official website, De Gea has discussed what life is like under the new interim manager - stating that every minute is 'intense':

"We’ve been training hard, of course. It’s very intense, every training session, every moment with him [Rangnick] is intense.

“You have to give 100 per cent every time in training and in the games. Let’s see. It’s just the beginning, it’s been a couple of weeks, so let’s see in the future.

“The team is training with energy, with pace, and now we have to show that in big games.”

With two league wins and two clean sheets under their belt under Rangnick, De Gea also highlighted the importance of the new-found defensive stability:

"I think the most important thing for us is to keep clean sheets.

“If we concede fewer goals, then we have top players up front who are going to score goals and win games.”
