From The M.E.N.

“Generally, I try to keep club and international football separate, so how I feel with Manchester United isn’t affected in the slightest by what happened in the World Cup.

“However, you can’t take away that both things happened one after the other - and that makes it a catastrophe,” he says with a wry smile.

“But the good thing about football is that you always have a second chance to put things right and gain some revenge for the season just gone.

“I want to start the way I played for the first 10 games of last season - but then keep it going for the whole season.

“Personally, I have to concentrate on working hard to put things right. If you work hard and try to play the way you know you can, finally you will get the result.

“Class and hard work will always tell in the end.

“The start of a new season fills your heart with desire and expectancy and hope.”
