DJEMBA DJEMBA FITTING IN WELL

Mike Phelan has spoken about how Eric Djemba Djemba is
fitting in at the club:

“We have been trying to get Eric fit as well as helping him
adapt to life at a new club. So far the signs have been very
positive. He has only been training with us for a fortnight
but you can already see him starting to gel with Roy Keane
and Nicky Butt.”

It has been difficult for the other players who took part in
the Confederations Cup to get their fitness:

“'It has been hard for that trio in particular but Mikael
has responded well, Fabien has been working very hard.”

Phelan reckons that the match with Stoke tonight will help
to get them ready for the season:

“The manager always likes to have six games before the
league season starts and when Stoke approached us to play
this one, it fitted perfectly into our schedule. It will
give us a chance to get some of the lads who have not played
that much over the last couple of weeks onto the pitch, as
well as helping on the three guys who played in the
Confederations Cup.”
