DUFF CAN GO

Speaking in the Lancashire Evening Post, Souness said:

"As we speak, we have had no offers for Damien and we don't
want any offers for him, it's as simple as that,

"But if someone came in and offered us ridiculous money,
then we'd have to be realistic about it. On top of that, if
the boy wanted to go, it would be very difficult to hold
onto him.

"But I can only repeat, we've had no offers as we speak."

Souness also confirms that United and Liverpool were looking
at Duff last summer:

"At the end of last season there were people sniffing around
him, namely Manchester United and Liverpool, and I think
each of them was worried about who was going to take him at
the time,

"But we made it very plain that they'd have to pay a lot of
money for him and nothing has changed since."

The ex-Liverpool player will not stand in the Irish winger’s
way if he does want to leave:

"Ultimately, if the boy wanted to go and we got the right
price for him, then I think we'd have to be fair to Damien,

"Everyone wants to play at the highest level and if he got
the opportunity to play in the Champions League, then it
would be very hard to say no.”
