Fans in Veenendaal in the centre of the country made a bonfire of team memorabilia and police arrested a 24-year-old man when he threw a Dutch flag into the fire, news agency ANP reported.

Police also arrested eight people in the Hague and three in Apeldoorn after the match. In Apeldoorn 300 people assembled on a roundabout and police officers and cars were pelted with stones and bottles as police tried to arrest a 21-year-old uprooting traffic signs.

A 41-year-old man who had smashed the window of a police car turned himself in later and was arrested.'
