Dutch Super Coach says United NEED Dortmund Dynamo

Last updated : 13 November 2013 By Denzel

The Daily Mail reports that former Manchester United first team coach Rene Meulensteen believes that his old side should sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

He was taking questions on Twitter and when asked: 'which central midfielder do you think Manchester United need?', he gave Gundogan as his answer.

The German international has won praise all around Europe and is likely to play some part in their World Cup campaign next summer.

The 23-year-old scored for Dortmund in last season's all-German Champions League final and Meulensteen hopes that United will be able to lure him to England.

The Dutch coach was also asked how hard it was to convince Robin van Persie to join the Manchester club and his reply was: 'He didn't need convincing!'

Van Persie scored the winner against Arsenal at Old Trafford when he headed in Wayne Rooney's corner midway through the first half.

United are still looking for a player who can link midfield to attack smoothly and create chances similar to the likes of Oscar at Chelsea, Mesut Ozil at Arsenal or David Silva at Manchester City.

Gundogan has showed true quality in big matches, such as against Real Madrid in last season's Champions League semi-finals.

In a related piece of news, Gundogans Father has responded to the latest news that Ilkay had signed a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid, saying that this is untrue. Surely a better signing than Marouane Fellaini??
