Ella Toone signs new Man Utd contract

Manchester United have confirmed that Ella Toone has signed a new four-year contract, committing her future to the club until 2025.

The 22-year-old has been in outstanding form during the opening months of the 2021/22 season, impressing for both club and country. Toone has three goals and four assists to her name in just seven WSL appearances for United, and has bagged five strikes in six games for the Lionesses in 2021.

Toone's dominant performances during October saw her scoop the PFA Fans' Player of the Month award, and her continued good form has now seen her rewarded with a new deal at United.

“To sign a new contract at the club is really exciting for me; United has been a big part of my life growing up and I’m over the moon to continue my journey," Toone said of her new deal in a United statement.

“The club meets my ambitions as a player, I’ve learnt so much already and I just want to keep working hard, keep contributing and have success here.

“I just want to also say a big thanks to everyone who has been involved in my journey so far; from family, friends, team-mates, staff and, of course, the fans, whose support I never take for granted.

“I want to make you all proud and create more memories with this club.”

Marc Skinner, who was appointed United manager over the summer, added: “I’m delighted that Ella has signed a new contract with the club, she is a wonderful talent and her stats this season speak for themselves. She has been an integral part of the squad.

“She is so versatile as a player, and her ability to find pockets of space and manipulate the ball in tight areas is where she really shines as an attacking force. There is so much room to grow with Ella too, she is only 22 years old and is always learning, so we know, if she continues to work hard, she will have such a bright future.”
