"There is no doubt that I've learnt a lot off Roy Keane ever since I moved from being mainly a defender into a midfield position at United.

"It's not just playing alongside him. It's watching him every week. He is without doubt the best midfielder in Europe of the last five years."

"I never gave up hope of playing for England again. As long as I was playing for United, playing in the Champions League - which is important to the England manager - then I always thought I'd get back in the squad. I've always had confidence in my own ability and as long as I kept playing well then I knew I would get another chance.

"The success the boys had in the World Cup, coupled with the players who didn't go to the World Cup playing well, meant I just had to bide my time. It's something I've been used to. As long as you bide your time, keep playing, keep your standards up and don't let your head drop, another opportunity will come and it has for me."
