Gary Neville has claimed the current England squad is "the most exciting" he has ever been part of.

"If the core of the team stays fit we have a real chance in the next two tournaments because we have enough quality and the age of the team is right," said Neville.

"We will be more experienced for the World Cup in 2006 but that is a more difficult tournament to win. This is as exciting a team as I have been part of and, providing the core of it stays fit, I see no reason why we shouldn't be pushing for the semi-finals of major competitions."

"With our full team out we can compete with anybody and while it is asking a lot to get players fit and fresh after a long season, somehow that is what we have to do."
