Erik ten Hag hopes Antony will be fit for Real Sociedad clash

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is hopeful that star winger Antony will be fit enough to play against Real Sociedad in a must-win Europa League clash this week.

United travel to Spain knowing that they need to win if they to finish top of their group and avoid playing an additional knockout round against a Champions League dropout.

Ten Hag will be looking to play his strongest XI to ensure that happens, but whether he'll be able to do so is unclear with Antony still a doubt after missing the weekend win over West Ham.

The winger, who has scored three times since joining the club from Ajax in the summer, was suffering with a knock for the visit of the Hammers. Hs manager thinks both he and Victor Lindelof, who missed the West Ham game through illness, will be available, but isn't certain yet.

"I think they will recover but I can't tell you any more," said the Dutchman. "We have to see what develops in the coming days and how they progress but I hope, when we go to Spain, everyone is on board. We need them all.

"There are still four games to go in a short period. You see it's tough for all teams, but also for us, we need 11 players and we need the squad to cover everything."

Real Sociedad meanwhile will be without a number of key players with David Silva, Mikel Oyarzabal, Umar Sadiq, Tafekusa Kubo, Ander Barrenetxea, Momo Cho and Aihen Munoz all out.
