Ronaldo:

"I am here to give my best and to work. Obviously every player wants to be in the starting line-up but it is not possible for everyone to be.

"It's the job of the boss to advise his players so that everyone works well and I did not take it as a criticism but as an incentive to do better.

"The coach wants only the best for the team, a strong collective. In my particular case sometimes things do not always go as I want them to but I must continue to work, to keep my head up in the knowledge that in the next few games things will go better."

Phil Neville:

"Sunday is obviously going to be a massive occasion but logically the games with Switzerland and Croatia are more important.

"In terms of preparation, in terms of players' fitness, in terms of level of competition, in terms of team spirit, this is the best prepared that I've witnessed with England going into a major competition.

"The manager said that as long as we are peaking for the France game that is all that really matters."

Louis Saha:

"It's in the hands of the coach but I will do whatever is asked of me.

"It is a very interesting match against England and for me it will be a special one too if I play, but quite apart from the fact that it is high-profile it is also important in terms of how we do in the competition and we must remember that.

"You don't want to go back to a club if you lose a game like that."
