Makaay’s goal was his 19th of the season in La Liga , confirming him as Spain’s leading scorer. Santander drew level immediately after half time but a goal from Luque in the last five minutes secured the points.

Away to Neuenburg Xamax, Basel also took an early lead with a goal from Tum after just ten minutes but slipped to a 3-1 as the home team scored three times in the last fifteen minutes.
