Evra Waiting For New Deal Talks

Evra still has 18 months to run on his present deal at Old Trafford and despite rumours to the contrary he has said that talks on a new deal have not yet begun.

"I have one year left after this one. People keep talking to me about it. They think I have extended my contract," the United left-back told the Daily Express.

"But that is not true. We have not even started to discuss it.

"It is said that the club want to prolong (the contract), but there is nothing for the moment. What do I want? You will not get me talking about that."

Evra, who has previously stated that he would like to extend his contract, is happy with his form of late.

"I think I have found the right balance, the one I have always sought between my attacking and defending," he explained. "These days I have kept my attacking desire, but I have learnt to love the combat.

"Sir Alex Ferguson had this nice word about me one day, saying 'he's a football player'. Just that."
