"The summer is going to be great," said Howard.
"I have some internationals, but, for a good proportion of it, I will go back to my house and put my feet up and just relax in New Jersey and Tennessee and enjoy the sunshine. I feel ready for a rest now. I will get a good break and reflect on what I have achieved and look forward to new challenges next season.
"I have not had much of a break for more than a year. I was playing in the Major League Soccer season virtually right up to coming over to sign for United last July. Now it is vital I do get some rest time this summer. I will be back fresh and ready when we return for pre-season training in July."
