Ferguson said: "We are just preparing for the time when
people like Roy Keane are not there any more. Roy is 32 and
we hope to get another two years out of him but Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer is 31 soon, Ryan Giggs is 30 and you have that
group of Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, all 29
years of age.

"These lads have got years ahead but I think this is the
right thing to do to prepare your team for the future.

"The players I brought in during the summer are younger, but
they are improving all the time and the likes of Darren
Fletcher have done exceptionally well," Ferguson told MUTV.
