The FA are expected to hold talks with Capello about him replacing Steve McClaren as head coach in the next day or so.

"To manage a national team you need to be a certain age, with plenty of experience and presence, and a CV that's indisputable, and Capello has all that," Fergie has said.

The ex-Real Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Roma coach has already said he is keen to succeed McClaren who was sacked on 22nd November after England failed to qualify for next year's European Championship.
