FERGIE™: ENTERTAINMENT WILL BE BACK AT THE END OF OCTOBER

More from his column in the programme:

"The last thing we want is to find ourselves playing in an Italian-style league where defending became an art form that was absorbing for the purists but did little for the spectators.

"I don't think English football could survive that kind of philosophy and the alarmists would have won.

"In terms of entertainment, I do agree that there have been too many matches so far this season lacking the qualities that have made English football the most attractive and exciting in the world, but this is perhaps just an early hiccup that hopefully will sort itself out before too long.

"I understand it, though, and believe that by the end of October, when the first hectic rush has become less frenetic, we will all be able to relax a little and put the accent back on the entertainment we all hold so dear in this country."
