FERGIE GIVES ENGLAND GREEN LIGHT FOR ROONEY

"There's absolutely no chance of Wayne playing against Liverpool. No chance at all.

"He's training but we can't play him until we get him passed by the medical people. He goes for a medical on Monday and hopefully that will be the final one.

"They may say he can come back in two weeks, you never know. They will do another scan. It is just that last bit of the crack. The rest has healed but the very last little bit may be the biggest and the biggest stride forward. Until they give the go-ahead, we can't play him.

"He has trained fine. He is doing the running turning kicking the ball, everything but there has been no contact."

On being called up for England:

"I would have no problem with that because Wayne will probably need the games. If he has played for us, then it wouldn’t bother me because he won’t be going unless he is fit. If he does join up, then it will be up to Sven to decide whether he is fit.

‘‘They may say come back in two weeks. Who knows? It’s that last little bit, the end of the crack. Everything else is healed but that may be the biggest bit.’’
