FERGIE JOINS THE LIST…

"Roy sets high standards and that's the way it should be," said
Fergie. "When you're playing for a club like Manchester
United, you have to give it everything you have. Young
players can be inconsistent and immature in some aspects,
but experience over time changes that.

"I think Roy was reminding the younger players they will one day
have the responsibility of leading Manchester United. When
the likes of Roy, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and
the Neville brothers come to the end of their careers, the
young players will need to accept that responsibility.

"We have that nucleus of experienced players at the club and I
think Roy was reminding the younger players of the challenge
that lies ahead. Those players have done it over a decade at
this club and the younger players have that example to
follow."
