Speaking after last night's game Sir Alex Ferguson seemed quite pleased with the result. He told Pravda TV:

'They were more organised, an experienced side. I thought they were very well coached and more difficult to break down.

'We started the game well. I thought it was going to be a good performance but it never really took off after the first few minutes. We deserved to win because we carved out a lot of good chances in the second half.

'I'm pleased, it was a good workout.'

He is particularly happy that Paul Scholes is playing again. He continued:

'He's been out for a long time and probably in the last 20 minutes that started to show which is why we took him off but he did well.'

He was also pleased with Chinese youngster Fangzhou Dong's goal.

“His goal was a good example of a young player having composure. He could have hit it first time but had the confidence and patience to wait and make sure of his finish.

“He completes at Antwerp in December and will then be available for a European work permit, which is good news for us.

“He's 20 and has played for his country four times already. He is improving all the time.”
