FERGIE POST MATCH

Delighted With The Win
"It was a fantastic game and a great performance from us. The important thing for us to do was keep our composure. We passed the ball well which took a lot of the steam out of Liverpool. It was very tense and competitive throughout but I'm really pleased with our performance today."

Brown's Sending Off
"I'd have to see it again but it may have been a bad tackle. We had an awful lot of bookings in the second half but I'd need to assess the sending off more closely. We knew we were going to face a bit of an onslaught when we went down to ten men. We had to survive that and we did.

Rooney's Kop Celebration
"I don't think he overdid his goal celebration. Of course he celebrated in front of the Kop because that was where he scored the goal."

High Praise For The Back Four
"The defence has been magnificent. Since Rio Ferdinand came back into the side he's brought that composure to the defence. Although he hasn't played in the last few games we've carried that momentum forward.

"John O'Shea came on today and did well after his fine performance in the week at Chelsea, while Wes Brown is a terrific defender as well. So I'm very pleased."

Keeping The Pressure On The Top Two
"The most important thing about today was getting the three points. Arsenal and Chelsea have both been to Anfield but I would have thought our performance was the best of the three."

Injury Update
"I thought Rio was going to be okay for the game but he failed a fitness test this morning. Ryan Giggs didn't feel right, while Alan Smith came down on his ankle in the last minute of the Chelsea game on Wednesday night so he wasn't available today either."
