"He was a fantastic manager and although I never got to know him particularly well, all his teams were difficult to beat and always had a determination about them, like the man himself. He was eccentric at times, but I don't think there was anything wrong with that. I quite enjoyed some of it, though I was sometimes on the end of it.''
