FERGIE'S REACTION

Sir Alex Ferguson, "This is a low point. There is no question about that. We always qualify for the knock-out phase. We gave away possession far too easily and in the end we got far too anxious. We lacked composure and while it is desperately disappointing to lose, we only have ourselves to blame.”

Asked about his future at the club, Fergie said, "It would not matter if I walked down the street backwards, it would not alter my profile. That is not a problem to me. I have a job to do. We are rebuilding and that will carry on. There will be people in the media who have plenty to say but I have a job to do. It is a good job and I am confident in my players.

"We can look back on a few things. We found teams difficult to beat at home and we also played with 10 men for large parts of two important games."
