"Giuseppe was disappointed when he didn't play against Charlton in the second game of the season because we played Ryan Giggs up front.

"I told him that we were away from home and I wanted Ryan's experience.

''I had a chat with Giuseppe and said to him 'I gave you the opportunity to go on loan a few weeks ago and you didn't take it, you said you wanted to stay'.

"Now he was saying 'maybe I should have taken it'.

"I told him I believed four months in the Premiership would do him good.

"A lot of Premiership clubs wanted him and we put the wheels in motion.

"He s g one to Newcastle, a club with expectations and 52,000 at every home game so it will be good for the boy.

"He is there with Newcastle for four months so we will review the situation in November and maybe he will be back with us then."

Rossi himself:

"It would just be great to meet Alan Shearer."

"If I can chat with him about football, about playing as a centre-forward, that would be incredible.

"He's a legend here, his goal-scoring record speaks for itself and if I can talk to him and pick up anything while I am here that would be fantastic. Of course that was an added incentive to come to Newcastle. Alan Shearer is one of the best there has been, he would be one of the best people to learn from because he did so much.

"Newcastle have a tradition of having great centre-forwards. There have been so many top strikers at Newcastle, I'd love to be one of them while I am here. I know the supporters love strikers and I hope to be successful while I'm playing for Newcastle. That is one of the reasons I was so keen to make the move to Newcastle, they play attacking football, that's what the supporters expect to see."
