FERGUSON POST MATCH

Praise For Spurs
"Tottenham have been rejuvenated this season and their fans were fantastic, they cheered every pass and every challenge and this was a difficult game for us," said Ferguson.

Match Assessment
"The fans tried to influence the referee but he did his job well and there were no contentious issues, just some hoo-ha. A lot of teams will come here and drop points but we defended well."

Penalty Incident
"I haven't seen the penalty. The linesman gave it but John said he was pulled back. I need to see it again."

Rio's Performances
"I've not been surprised at all. He's a fantastic player and he has trained so hard that I knew he would fit in very easily. I think it is easier for a defender to come back in after such a lay-off than it is for a midfielder or a front player. But, nonetheless, he has been absolutely magnificent. He was class today."

Ferdinand's Influence
"I think there is a general uplift in form. The return of Rio has given a lot of people in the team confidence - particularly Mikael Silvestre. Mikael relishes playing alongside Rio because he is such an assured performer. I'm delighted at that part. You see the influence Rio has on other players, and it can only be good news for us."

Injury Update Ahead of Fenerbahce
"There were no further injuries after today. Paul Scholes missed the game with a groin injury. I don't think he will be fit for Tuesday, but hopefully he will be ready for the Middlesbrough match."
