FERGUSON POST MATCH

We Should Have Won

"It was a game we should have won especially given the chances we had and the possession we had. If we'd have scored, the game would have opened up and I think we'd have been comfortable, but it just didn't fall for us."

Tricky Opening Half

"They kept trying to force us back into our box in the first twenty-five minutes or so and the pitch was very lively. They challenged every ball and put in a lot of tackles and it took us the first twenty minutes to get used to that. But after that I think we controlled the game. We've seen it before when a team like Palace who are fighting for their lives settle into their penalty box yet somehow manage to survive."

Resting Key Players

"I had one eye on the match with Milan and that little break for Ronaldo, Rooney and Scholes might just help us on Tuesday."

Offside Controversy

"We'd watched Palace in their last game and they always try to play the offside on the first free-kick they have against them. We'd been working on a move all week to try and get in behind them and in the first half Roy [Keane] was in.

"Roy's run was perfectly timed but it was given offside. The ref said to him afterwards that it wasn't him that was offside but the rest of them - I don't know how you can possibly explain that because it was clearly onside. It was a massive decision at that stage in the game but these things happen."

Where Does That Leave The Title Race?

"Today is a kick in the teeth and it's very difficult for us after that result - we have to win these games. I don't think we played badly today but two points have just slipped away."
