FERGUSON POST MATCH

"I was very pleased with Vidic, he's getting better all the time and it's just a matter of getting confidence of playing in our league," said Ferguson.

"He got a good welcome - he was clattered by Kevin Campbell in the first minute. But it was the sort of introduction he maybe needed to get.

"I think the team is playing very well with good confidence about them," Ferguson added. "Vidic came in and did very well and Kieran Richardson did very well too so we've got a good strong squad at the moment.

"I think we've got a very good young team which is developing all the time."

“There is a lot of confidence in the team at the moment but it was disappointing to concede the goal. It was a lack of concentration and it could have cost us. It is something we need to cut out.”

"We showed so much authority and were creating chances but goals change games. From a position of authority, we started to fret a bit at the end and it could have turned into a disaster for us.

"It would have been a real wasteful result for us, but I thought we played very well, created a lot of chances in the match and played some excellent football."
