Important Victory

"It could be massive. But we're still seven points adrift so it's a long way to go. But the most important thing was that we showed tremendous grit on a difficult pitch. It wasn't easy. Sam [Allardyce] told me before the game that it was causing problems, and it proved that way. We stuck at it against Bolton, in what is without doubt our hardest away fixture. It was a massive game for us - it's a great result."

Coming From Behind

"That's another great aspect to the result, we just don't give in. There is always a threat up front. One or two of our lads were tired after Wednesday night's game. Nonetheless we never gave in and the supporters really helped us push on and get that goal."

Ruud's Role

"With Ruud playing on Wednesday, it was only three days since his first game in five weeks. He understood exactly what I had to do today. I hoped I didn't need to bring him on, but you know when he comes on he is going to get a goal for you. He should have had a penalty kick too. It was the clearest penalty kick you could imagine. I don't know what the linesman was doing – he had a great view of it. But we got there and won the match."

Putting Chelsea Under Pressure

“I think it is asking Chelsea a question. Everyone expected them to beat Birmingham. But they didn't. And they have got to play Bolton in a couple of weeks when the pitch will be worse than today, and they have to go to Blackburn. We've got a massive game ourselves against Arsenal next weekend. It should be a fantastic game. We're playing well and if we get by that hurdle then we have a big chance.”

Closing Down On Chelsea

“We're catching Chelsea but we just hope the winning line doesn't come too quickly. We must concentrate on what we're doing because we are playing so well. I've got options up front. Bringing on players at the right team could make the difference at this stage of the season.”

Fan's Influence

“They know, they can sense it and they will carry us to the finish line. I always say this; if your form is good in April then you have a good chance. I've said that for years. If your form is stuttering then you can throw things away.”

Arsenal Match

“It's another massive game for us but this is good preparation. We'll have a huge crowd behind us – I think the attendance will be close to 75,000. It'll be great.”
