FIFA HAVE FINAL SAY ON BARTHEZ

The Ligue de Football Professionnel's gave this statement
yesterday:

“The LFP's judicial committee gathered on Tuesday night
after receiving a request from Olympique de Marseille to
approve Barthez's contract, but the LFP decided not to give
its go-ahead. The judicial committee does not have the power
to validate Fabien Barthez's contract because this is an
international transfer and FIFA's go-ahead is missing.

“Thus we have suggested Marseille start the procedure with
FIFA. Of course Marseille have the right to recruit a new
keeper following Cedric Carasso's long-term injury but as
far as Barthez's contract validation is concerned, the LFP
have to respect the international rules.”
