The Guardian:

‘Fifa is to set up a task force to investigate corruption in the game. The move follows a meeting of Fifa and Uefa officials in Zurich yesterday which focused on bribery, betting and match-fixing as well as the multiple ownership of clubs by a single individual or organisation.

‘A Fifa statement said: "The Fifa President [Sepp Blatter] will submit a proposal to the Fifa Congress in Marrakech that a special task force be set up to examine these issues in more detail and determine appropriate action and solutions.”

‘A fortnight ago Uefa's president Lennart Johansson expressed his alarm at bribery, match-fixing and money-laundering linked to football. Several recent matches across Europe have caused Uefa to investigate suspicious results and betting patterns, while a referee is awaiting trial on corruption allegations in Germany and Italian side Genoa were relegated from Serie A for bribing their opponents to lose the last match of last season.’
