Fergie said this when recently asked about Rooney and Ronaldo,"We also think young Fletcher, who has not long turned 20, is a terrific talent.”
Fletcher seems happy enough about it:
"It's not bad company to be linked with. Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are always going to take the headlines and that is good for me because I don't enjoy being in the papers.
"I am sort of in the background. I know I have a big part to play for Manchester United just now and even more so in the future. Maybe I won't go around doing all the skills and scoring all the goals but there is another side to the game and I can let them get on with all the showboating."
"Obviously Wayne Rooney is going to be a big attraction and the manager will do what he can, but if he keeps banging in hat-tricks it will be hard to keep him out of the headlines. But it won't faze him [Rooney], he is just a normal lad who loves playing football.
"It's okay to let it sink in as long as you don't get too cocky; as long as you keep it to yourself. Wayne knows he is a good player but he doesn't go around boasting about it.
"He knows what his abilities are, he doesn't have to go telling people in the dressing room and in newspapers what he can do. He has got enough confidence in his own ability to go out and perform, come off the park and go back to being a normal lad."
