A Premiership star faces questioning after ex-Corrie babe Naomi Ryan claimed her drink was spiked with a date-rape drug in a nightclub.
The player, in his early twenties, is among potential witnesses after Naomi collapsed and was rushed to hospital.
He was said to have been in the ultra-trendy Coco Rooms in Manchester when Naomi, 28, fell ill in the early hours of Sunday. She told club staff her drink had been tampered with.
The club is a magnet for footballers, soap stars and celebs.
A source said: "She is convinced a date-rape drug was put in her drink. But she hasn't named anyone to police.
"All potential witnesses who were in the club and spoke with Naomi will be interviewed."
The source stressed: "No sexual assault took place on Naomi and she feels quite lucky, but she has been shaken up over the incident."
