The reserves thrashed Blackburn 5-0 last night and Diego was the star, This from
Manchester United's official site.

Diego Forlan destroyed Blackburn Rovers Reserves with a stunning first half hat-trick at
Morecambe FC on Tuesday evening.

He hit the first after fifteen minutes, with a run across the edge of the area and a fierce shot
that gave the home goalkeeper no chance.

Forlan's second came in the 22nd minute, with a superbly placed chip-shot across the
diving keeper after Quinton Fortune's through-ball. He wrapped up his hat-trick after
pouncing on a terrible back-pass before rounding the stricken keeper and rolling the ball
home.

3-0 up at the break, coach Mike Phelan replaced the excellent Ricardo in goal with Ben
Williams. The Spanish international, left out of the Spain squad to face Roy Carroll's
Northern Ireland next week, had contributed a hat-trick of his own, pulling off three fantastic
saves to keep a clean sheet.

Nine minutes into the second half, Richardson made amends for his penalty miss with a
stunning goal right out of the top draw. Picking the ball up on the halfway line, he strode
forward and found himself unchallenged. He unleashed a fearsome left footed drive from
fully 40 yards that rocketed into the top corner. Paul Scholes would have been proud of the
effort, which cool Kieran barely celebrated.

Diego, not to be outdone on his night, finished the scoring after a mix-up in the Blackburn
defence with nineteen minutes to go. Ben Muirhead's initial shot came to Diego, and he
made sure with his fourth of a fruitful evening.
