He suffered such horrific injuries at Munich that his paper, the News Chronicle mistakenly printed his obituary in its first edition.
Taylor was a much-respected newspaperman who in his later years was President of the International Federation of Sportswriters.
He also worked for the Daily Mail, Daily Herald and Daily Mirror and was the author of the highly acclaimed book, The Day A Team Died.
