"Birmingham had long spells of play in the second half, but our form has been excellent," Ferguson told Sky Sports.

"We had a lot of chances in the first half and played some terrific stuff but being 2-0 up at half-time encouraged Birmingham maybe because it could have been worse."


United's run of form has coincided with Chelsea dropping points but……

"It is a great challenge for us now. Chelsea's consistency at present is good, but we have to finish as near as possible to them to leave a marker for next season," said Ferguson.


"It's frustrating but we can take something from it because we had problems earlier in the season with injuries," Ferguson added. "A lot of our form comes from John O'Shea and Ryan Giggs playing in the centre of midfield.
